Maine Islands (Popham) – 2010 – Caponigro

This was taken during a weeklong camera shoot with John Paul Caponigro. This was the last morning, up at 1am, out to meet up at 2am, drive to Popham Beach, gate closed, rain started, cold, miserable BUT the view was tremendous. The island in the shroud, the rain pelting the beach, the small waves crashing – a morning to remember. Here our erstwhile assistant leader, CT, standing and wondering (maybe) “what in the hell are we doing here!!” (and then maybe not – knowing that these experiences don’t come often. Please note that he and all of us were soaking wet, down to the skin wet, and cold.

Pyramids on the Nile in Cairo

I had never realized how close the pyramids were to Cairo. I had always thought that they were nowhere near the city. But as you can see below they are almost right IN the city. This picture was taken from the hotel balcony.

A fatsia-like plant in my backyard

This plant resides (or should I say did reside since we had 23F temperature last night) in my backyard of a home we are restoring in Historic Columbus. I was fascinated by the delicate structure of the flowers and seed pods. the little green melon like pods are approximately 1/16 ” which makes the flower blossom about 3/4″. The tree/bush stand about 8′ tall and has luscious leafs much like the fig plant.

I have learned that the name of this plant is  Fatsia japonica.

Catholic Church in Columbus Ga

They have just in the last few months repainted and ‘freshened up’ this beautiful church. As many of you know, photographing churches is a passion of mine.  This picture was taken with a Nikon D3x, 12-24 mm f/4.0 Nikor lens, Aperture priority, exposure was 1 sec at f /16, ISO 100.
